Kelly Cates is set for a return to Sky Sports to front coverage of the renamed EFL (English Football League).

Cates co-hosted Channel 5's Football League highlights show last season, but is now set to anchor Sky's live matches which kick-off on Friday night with Fulham v Newcastle in the Championship.

She is said to be returning to Sky - where she was formally on Sky Sports News - with regular Football League presenter Simon Thomas being promoted to the broadcaster's Premier League coverage.

It's part of a shake-up of Sky's football presenting line-up following main Premier League anchor Ed Chamberlin's departure to ITV where he will present horse racing - including the Grand National - from the new year.

Other changes expected to be confirmed in the next week include David Jones - who hosted Saturday Night Football last season - becoming Sky's main Premier League presenter.

The Daily Mirror has also reported that Soccer Saturday host Jeff Stelling will be reunited with Countdown's Rachel Riley for Sky's ten live Premier League Friday Night Football games this season.

Former player Scott Minto is also thought to be remaining on Sky's EFL presenting team.

Cates' return to Sky was revealed by veteran football commentator Peter Brackley on Digital Spy's broadcasting forum.

Channel 5 had already confirmed Cates - who is the daughter of former Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish - wouldn't be returning to its new-look EFL highlights show which is being renamed Football on 5.

BT Sport host Lynsey Hipgrave will co-host the Saturday evening show with the returning George Riley.
