Premier League warns viewers over illegal streams

The Premier League has confirmed "further investigations" are underway after a firm selling subscriptions to illegal streaming services handed over personal details of its customers.

Ace IPTV, described by the League as "a renowned pirate", has been forced to liquidate. It will pay £600,000 for breaching the league's copyright as part of a renewed crackdown on illegal streaming.

Ace has also terminated all subscriptions meaning people who pre-paid sums for the service have been left out of pocket.

The Premier League also suggested it has seen personal details of customers and further action might be taken.

In a statement, the league said: "Ace voluntarily disclosed the personal details of their customers, which the league will now review in compliance with date protection legislation. Further investigations will be conducted, and action taken where appropriate."

The league also say fans risk being the victim of fraud by signing up with the illegal services.

"Using these services is unlawful and fans should be aware that when they do so they enter into agreements with illegal businesses and risk being victims of fraud or identity theft by handing over personal data and financial details".

This season the Premier League says it has had 215,000 streams removed and has vowed to continue to take a strong stance against pirate streamers.
